Sri Lanka, Nov. 28 -- Health authorities have placed medical teams on high alert as hospitals across several districts prepare for a possible surge in patients due to the ongoing severe weather conditions.

According to the Secretary to the Ministry of Health, emergency teams have been deployed, backup generators arranged where possible and disaster response units placed on standby as heavy rain continues to affect multiple regions.

Health officials noted that maintaining uninterrupted medical services remains a top priority.

It was reported that electricity and water supply have been disrupted at the Mahiyanganaya and Chilaw Hospitals.
