Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- Millaniya Police arrested a suspect linked to a shop burglary, who then attempted a dramatic escape by leaping into a crocodile-infested pit while still in handcuffs.

Police said the man had been caught following an attempt to steal goods from a shop in Millaniya on Wednesday night (27). When confronted, he allegedly attacked the shop owner with a sharp weapon and fled. The injured shop owner was admitted to the Gonaduwa Regional Hospital and later transferred to Panadura Hospital for further treatment.
