Colombo, April 24 -- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) said that there is a great mismatch between what the government promised before the elections and delivered after.

Making remarks to Daily Mirror on the performance of the government during the past six months, SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said electricity tariff reductions and fuel price reduction were among the promises made to cushion the burden on people. Nevertheless, he said the performance of the government in reducing living costs for people was absolutely dismal.

He said the government had been unable to accomplish anything on the ground to revive the economy during its six months in office.
