Sri Lanka, June 3 -- The Health Ministry will take the next decision over the current spread of Covid-19 in Sri Lanka based on the number of cases being reported, Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said today.

He told the weekly media briefing to announce Cabinet decisions that the Health Ministry is in constant discussion with the World Health Organisation about the situation as experience and the advice of the WHO is important in facing the pandemic.

Responding to a question whether the Health Ministry will make facemasks mandatory, the Minister said the Ministry will take the next step based on the number of cases reported.

"We have increased PCR testing in hospitals. We cannot take decisions irresponsibly," he said.
