Srilanka, Feb. 5 -- The government has approved the import of coconut kernels and other coconut-related raw materials equivalent to 200 million coconuts to address the ongoing shortage in the country.

According to government, the Secretaries to the Ministries of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development and Plantation and Community Infrastructure Facilities have been tasked with overseeing the import process, the government said.

Furthermore, the Department of Agriculture, Coconut Research Institute, Coconut Development Authority, Plant Quarantine Service and Sri Lanka Standards Institution have jointly prepared guidelines for importing chilled coconut kernels, dried coconut pieces with husks, coconut milk, coconut milk powder and d...
