Sri Lanka, Nov. 11 -- Recognizing the importance of promoting sports and improving infrastructure in the Northern Province, which continues to recover from decades of conflict, the government has approved the construction of a new indoor sports stadium in the region.

The proposed facility aims to support the development of indoor sports such as table tennis, tennis, badminton, netball, and chess among school athletes and sports clubs.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports to construct the indoor stadium with the necessary facilities at an estimated cost of Rs. 170 million.
