Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- The government has come to an agreement with the European Union on the repealing of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and the Online Safety Bill, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today.

He told Parliament that the government is in discussion with the EU on the GSP+ facility and that the government has come to agreement on several matters.

The President said the government is of the stance that the PTA must be repealed and that the Online Safety Act must be changed.

He said it is the responsibility of the government to uphold democracy and ensure human rights.
