Sri Lanka, Jan. 28 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) warned that it would step up trade union action if the government fails to take swift measures to address its demands.
GMOA Secretary Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa said a decision on further action would be taken following a Central Committee meeting scheduled to be held today (28), after which the public would be informed.
He noted that the association commenced trade union action on Monday based on five key demands, including a decision not to issue prescriptions for medicines that are unavailable at hospital outpatient departments and would otherwise have to be purchased from external pharmacies.
