Sri Lanka, Oct. 30 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) will launch an islandwide trade union action tomorrow (31) in protest against what it describes as an arbitrary transfer procedure being implemented by the Ministry of Health.

In a statement, the GMOA warned that if the Ministry proceeds with the new transfer mechanism, the government will be held fully responsible for any disruptions to hospital and healthcare services across the country.

The association urged the authorities to immediately suspend the transfer process, calling instead for a fair and transparent system developed in consultation with relevant stakeholders, ensuring that the continuity of patient care is not affected.
