Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) began a symbolic strike at the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital today.

The strike is being held in protest against the actions of the hospital director. The GMOA said the Health Ministry had earlier agreed to take action on the issue, but no steps have been taken so far.

The strike started at 8:00 a.m. today and will continue until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow.

According to the GMOA, emergency and life-saving services will still be provided during the strike. However, all regular treatment services at the hospital will be disrupted.
