Sri Lanka, Dec. 20 -- An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued to temporarily suspend the collection of toll charges at the Kerawalapitiya Interchange on the Katunayake Expressway.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena said that the decision was taken with the aim of reducing unnecessary traffic congestion in the area.

Accordingly, vehicles entering the Katunayake Expressway from the Outer Circular Road, as well as vehicles accessing the Outer Circular Road from the Katunayake Expressway, will be allowed to pass through the Kerawalapitiya Interchange without stopping to pay toll fees.

The new traffic arrangement is expected to be implemented within the next few days.
