Sri Lanka, Nov. 18 -- The government has decided to implement the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act from December 1, 2025, following a Gazette notification issued by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The Act, No. 17 of 2015, was recently passed in Parliament, with Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne certifying the Gambling Regulatory Authority Bill on September 3 under Article 79 of the Constitution.

The new legislation establishes the Gambling Regulatory Authority and provides for the regulation and control of all types of gaming activities, except for lotteries and social gaming.
