Sri Lanka, Nov. 17 -- Anura Walpola, former Chairman of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, has been granted bail in connection with his alleged unlawful recruitment of K. Dulani Anupama as Assistant Director in 2020.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama approved bail, ordering two sureties of Rs. 1 million each and imposing a travel ban on Walpola.

The complaint states that Walpola appointed Anupama without obtaining approval from the Office Management Committee and in violation of the legally prescribed procedures, providing her with financial benefits, including salaries and other allowances.
