Sri Lanka, June 13 -- Former Sri Lanka Army Commander General Hamilton Wanasinghe has passed away at the age of 91, family sources confirmed today.

A highly respected military leader, General Wanasinghe held several key positions during his distinguished career, including serving as the 11th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army. In addition to his tenure as Army Commander, he also served as the Secretary of Defence and as the General Officer Commanding the Joint Operations Headquarters, playing a pivotal role in the country's defence establishment during critical periods.
