Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- A gypsy who staged a performance by a macaque and a cobra in Unawatuna beach ended up in a police cell when a tourist in his audience was bitten by the macaque.
The tourist from Lebanon staying at a hotel in Unawatuna was taking a stroll along the beach when she noticed the gypsy staging the performance. When she attempted to have glimpse of the scene, the macaque sprang at her and bit her causing her injuries.
Habaraduwa Police that investigated her complain arrested the gypsy and admitted the tourist to hospital.
The suspect from Thirukkovil area was to be produced in court yesterday afternoon.
