Srilanka, Nov. 29 -- The Kandy Municipal Council (KMC) announced that water supply within the Kandy Municipality area cannot be restored as the Greater Kandy Water Treatment Plant (GKWTP) in Gatambe has been flooded.

In an official statement, the Council urged residents to use rainwater or water collected from alternative sources until repair work is completed.

The flooding has left both the pump house and the treatment plant inoperable, officials said.
