Sri Lanka, Oct. 29 -- A fire has broken out on the fifth floor of an apartment complex on Dabare Mawatha in Narahenpita, authorities said.
According to the Colombo Fire Service Department, several individuals who were trapped inside the building have been rescued as firefighters continue efforts to bring the blaze under control.
Thirteen fire engines have been dispatched to the scene, along with two skylift vehicles being used to evacuate residents stranded on the upper floors.
Officials said that access through the main exits has been blocked by the fire which prompted rescue teams to rely on skylifts to reach those trapped inside.
