Sri Lanka, June 3 -- Four students of the Kuliyapitiya Technical College have been arrested over a suspected ragging incident that led a first-year female student to attempt suicide by jumping into a nearby lake.

The incident occurred on Monday (02) afternoon. Police said the student was rescued by bystanders and admitted to the Kuliyapitiya Hospital. According to hospital sources, she is currently receiving treatment, and her condition is reported to be stable.

Following investigations, the Kuliyapitiya Police arrested four students believed to be involved in the incident.

This comes just weeks after the suicide of a second-year student at Sabaragamuwa University, allegedly due to ragging.
