Sri Lanka, July 22 -- Opposition MP Dilip Wedaarachchi alleged in Parliament today that he was falsely arrested by the police for drunk driving.

"I was arrested by the Fort police while I was returning from the airport after picking my son who returned from abroad. I was accused of drunk driving. I was dragged to the police station and was subjected to tests. The tests proved that I had not been under the influence of liquor. Therefore, I request the Speaker to summon the relevant police personnel and advice them on dealing with MPs," he said.
