Colombo, April 20 -- The Meteorology Department forecast showers or thundershowers at several places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Eastern Provinces and in the Polonnaruwa, Hambantota and Mullaittivu districts during the afternoon or night.

Fairly heavy rainfall of about 50 mm are expected at some places in these areas.

Showers could occur in the Western Province and in the Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts in the morning, the Department said.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
