Sri Lanka, Nov. 28 -- Evacuation of flood affected people in the North and the East is problematic as people in these areas are refusing to leave their homes, MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam said today.

He said people are refusing to leave their homes, citing thefts of their belongings.

"The issue here is that relief cannot be sent to their homes if they remain without leaving for temporary shelters," he said.

The MP urged the government to look at the issue from a legal point of view and take measures to resolve these matters.
