Colombo, Nov. 30 -- Claiming that emergency regulations have been enacted to provide legal and financial safeguards for efficient reconstruction, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake assured that the emergency powers will not be misused for any other purpose.
Addressing the nation, he said emergency regulations have been enacted as a rapid, well-coordinated plan is required to quickly restore the sectors that have been severely impacted.
The President said that in accordance with these emergency regulations, a Commissioner-General of Essential Services has been appointed, centralising all operations.
