Sri Lanka, July 26 -- The body of an elderly man was recovered from a detention cell at the Kilinochchi Police Station on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Rathinam Rasu, a 66-year-old resident of Kilinochchi.
He had been arrested by the police due to a family dispute and was being held in a detention cell at the police station. He was later found hanging from his clothing inside the cell.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The body has been sent to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
