Srilanka, Jan. 28 -- The Education Ministry has called for a report on the trade union action launched by the academic staff of the Jaffna University, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today.
He told the weekly briefing to announce Cabinet decisions that the Ministry is intervening to resolve the issue as the government wants to continue with the academic activities of all universities.
"We will promptly resolve any issues which obstruct the academic activities," he said.
The Minister appealed to everyone to discuss with the Ministry before resorting to any trade union action which hampers the academic activities and resort to trade union action only if issues are not resolved.
