Sri Lanka, May 27 -- The Election Commission of Sri Lanka is firm on taking legal action against the candidates of the recently concluded Local Government polls if their campaign finance details were not submitted before midnight today, a senior official said yesterday.

The deadline to submit the campaign finance details of over 79,000 candidates that contested at the LG polls will expire at 12.00 midnight today (27) and the commission is left with no other solution but to resort to legal action against those have failed to submit them as per the provisions of the Regulation of Election Expenditure Act No.3 of 2023.
