Sri Lanka, Jan. 29 -- The Election Commission has called for applications from political parties eligible for official recognition in 2026.

According to the Commission, applications will be accepted from January 28 to February 28, 2026, and must be submitted with the required documents signed by the party secretary.

Application forms can be obtained from the Election Commission's official website, district election offices or the Office of the Election Secretary.

The Commission said recognised parties will be required to specify their allocated symbol in accordance with relevant Gazette notifications.
