Sri Lanka, Feb. 26 -- The prevailing dry weather across the island has caused significant disruptions in the water supply in several regions, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) said.
They said several areas of Colombo, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Matara and Kandy has been identified as affected areas.
Meanwhile, the Irrigation Department said the reservoir and water source levels are rapidly declining due to the ongoing drought.
With increased consumption and a limited supply, the NWSDB has urged the public to use water sparingly and avoid non-essential activities such as washing vehicles and gardening.
To support those in the worst-hit areas, the NWSDB is currently distributing water via bowser trucks.
