Colombo, Feb. 16 -- A drug trafficker and organised criminal, along with his wife were brought back to Sri Lanka after being arrested abroad.

The couple, Pushparaj Wigneswaram (30) and his wife (25), were extradited to Sri Lanka early today (16) following a request from the Sri Lanka Police.

They were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Katunayake Airport.

Wigneswaram is wanted in connection with several crimes, including attempted shootings, possession of firearms and drug-related offenses under investigations by multiple police stations.

He has previously been arrested for gambling, possessing firearms and cannabis and heroin-related offenses in the Kotahena Police Division.
