Sri Lanka, July 16 -- The U.S. Embassy in Colombo has issued a strong reminder to all U.S. visa holders and applicants that driving under the influence (DUI) is a serious offense under U.S. law, which could result in visa revocation or future ineligibility.
In a message posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the embassy warned that arrests related to drinking and driving could carry both legal and immigration consequences.
"Drinking and driving is against U.S. law. If you are arrested, your U.S. visa may be revoked, and you may be ineligible for future U.S. visas. Adhering to U.S. laws is crucial to maintaining your visa status," the embassy said.
