Sri Lanka, Jan. 9 -- Former Minister Douglas Devananda, who was remanded in connection with an investigation into a missing firearm, was granted bail by Gampaha Magistrate Seelani Perera.

He was released on two sureties of Rs. 2 million each by the magistrate.

Devananda was arrested in connection with the recovery of a weapon during the interrogation of organised criminal Makandure Madush in 2019.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the firearm had been issued by the Sri Lanka Army to Devananda for his personal security in 2001.
