Sri Lanka, Dec. 1 -- The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) urged the public not to return to their homes until officials from the NBRO's District Offices carry out safety inspections and issue their official assessments.

NBRO Senior Scientist Dr. Wasantha Senadeera stressed that residents in highly vulnerable areas, especially those currently staying in temporary safe locations, should remain where they are until officials arrive, provide clear guidance and confirm that it is safe to go back.

Dr. Senadeera appealed to all those living in severely unsafe conditions to continue staying in evacuation centres for their own safety.
