Sri Lanka, June 20 -- Sri Lanka has recorded 14 dengue-related deaths and 26,775 dengue cases so far this year,according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
Community Medical Specialist Dr. Prashila Samaraweera said that one child death has been reported and 45% of the patients are from the Western Province.
She noted that the highest cases have been reported within the Western, Eastern, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces.
She said that a mosquito control week is being implement among 111 health medical divisions in 16 districts.
Health teams will visit high-risk areas to destroy dengue mosquito breeding spots and legal action will be taken against those who fail to keep their surroundings clean.
