Sri Lanka, April 26 -- Highlighting that the recent spate of killings is clear evidence that Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala has failed in his duties to maintain law and order, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dayasiri Jayasekera called for the minister's resignation. Jayasekera told a media briefing that the minister in charge of law and order has not fulfilled his responsibilities.

"Any minister pledges to carry out the duties vested in him upon being sworn in. He is also responsible for managing all institutions under his ministry effectively, once such institutions are gazetted. Therefore, the current minister of law and order has failed in these duties. Accordingly, he should resign from the post," Jayasekera said.
