Sri Lanka, Dec. 8 -- Cyclone Ditwah which hit Sri Lanka recently has destroyed more than 600 prawn farms in the Puttalam District alone, bringing the livelihoods of many farmers into a standstill, the Fisheries Ministry said.
The Ministry said this was revealed during a fact-finding mission in which Fisheries Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekhar was engaged in the district over the weekend.
The Minister assured the prawn farmers in the district that the government will assist them to rebuild their livelihoods.
"We will not leave out anyone who has been affected by the recent disaster," he said.
