Srilanka, Nov. 29 -- The Meteorology Department has issued warnings as Cyclonic Storm "Ditwah" nears Sri Lanka, currently located about 80 km northeast of Jaffna and expected to move north-northwestwards.

Residents across the island are advised to prepare for widespread rainfall and strong winds. Northern, North-central, Central, and North-western provinces may receive heavy showers or thundershowers, with some areas likely to record rainfall exceeding 100 mm. Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces, along with Galle and Matara districts, could see fairly heavy falls above 50 mm.
