Srilanka, June 8 -- Sri Lanka Customs has rejected claims that 323 recently released shipping containers contained weapons, narcotics, or gold, confirming that the cargo was limited to industrial goods and raw materials declared by importers.

At a special media briefing held today, Customs Media Spokesperson Seevali Arukgoda clarified that the containers were cleared only after a detailed verification of all supporting import documents.

Responding to concerns about the absence of physical inspections, Arukgoda stated that there was no evidence to suggest the presence of any illegal substances or contraband.
