Sri Lanka, July 3 -- The Ceylon Teachers' Union (CTU) raised serious concerns over the lack of progress in the investigations into the tragic suicide of 15-year-old Dilshi Amshika, a Grade 10 student of Ramanathan Hindu Ladies' College in Bambalapitiya.
Addressing the media during a protest held in front of the Police Headquarters in Colombo today, CTU General Secretary Joseph Stalin alleged that the police had failed to take meaningful action in the case, despite several high-level discussions and public outrage.
Dilshi Amshika took her own life at her residence in Kotahena on April 29, 2025, following allegations of sexual abuse by her former mathematics teacher in October 2024.
