Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today urged President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to create a Ministry for disaster management to be in charge of preventing and managing disasters.

Speaking to the media after visiting disaster affected persons in Ibbagamuwa in the Kurunegala District, Premadasa said there should be proper coordination between institutions which are responsible for preventing disasters, such as the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and the National Building Research Organisation in order to mitigate disasters.
