Sri Lanka, Jan. 23 -- The Colombo Chief Magistrate, Asanga S. Bodaragama, today ordered the temporary relaxation of the foreign travel ban imposed on former Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.

President's Counsel Anil Silva, appearing on behalf of Ranatunga, informed the court that his client needed to travel to India to attend a religious event.

Counsel requested the court to issue an order temporarily lifting the foreign travel ban currently in place.

After considering the submissions, the Magistrate granted the request and ordered the temporary relaxation of the travel restrictions.

The case is scheduled to be taken up again on March 27.
