Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- The Colombo Commercial High Court issued several enjoining orders against several vendors and booksellers engaged in the unauthorised reproduction and public distribution of the novella 'Mai Maara Prasangaya' authored and published by popular novelist Mahinda Prasad Masimbula.

The plaintiff Masimbula sought an enjoining order to secure his economic rights as the author and publisher of the said book.

In making submissions, counsel for the plaintiff informed court that these cases were filed to secure the economic rights of the author under the Intellectual Property Act and that the defendants had been engaged in the sale of counterfeit copies to the public.
