Sri Lanka, Nov. 24 -- The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) today questioned the procedures followed in releasing lands for the construction of aerodromes, where it was highlighted that the market value has not been determined.

COPF Chairman Harsha de Silva said that the Civil Aviation Authority is paying only Rs. 50,000 for a hectare for the aerodrome at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), though a perch is worth Rs. 1 million in that area.

Dr. De Silva said this fact should be taken into consideration by the relevant authorities.
