Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) proposed granting full independence to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), by allowing the institution to manage its finances on its own.
"Parliament currently controls CIABOC finances as funds are allocated to it through the budget. This could provide space for the Minister of Finance to gain control of it. Therefore, we have proposed granting full financial independence for it," COPF Chairman Dr. Harsha de Silva told Parliament today.
