Colombo, Dec. 29 -- The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) cannot function after January 6, 2026 without an Auditor General, Opposition MP Dayasiri Jayasekera said today.

He said the COPE and the COPA cannot function without an Auditor General as per Articles 148 and 152 of the Constitution.

"An independent Auditor General should be appointed soon," he said.
