Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- Consumers are facing hardships as key details such as the price, date of manufacture, and expiry date on products are often printed in very small letters, making them difficult to read, National Consumer Front (NCF) Leader Asela Sampath said.
He noted that he had already informed the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) to take steps to ensure these details are displayed clearly. However, no action has been taken so far, he alleged.
Sampath further claimed that unclear labeling amounts to fraud, adding that some food items are unfit for consumption due to the absence of a clearly visible expiry date, which consumers can only detect after opening the packet.
