Sri Lanka, July 16 -- Hasitha Roshan, a constable attached to the Athurugiriya Police, who was in remand custody over allegations of aiding and abetting the murder of underworld figure Ganemulla Sanjeewa, was ordered to be released on bail by Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne last Friday.
The bail order was issued following submissions by Counsel Mervin De Silva, who appeared on behalf of the suspect.
Court was informed that there was no direct evidence presented to prove that he had supported or facilitated the murder.
Considering these submissions, the judge noted that the evidence did not establish active involvement or support in the killing and thus ordered his release.
