Sri Lanka, Jan. 8 -- Heated arguments rocked Parliament today when Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and other Opposition MPs sought to raise an issue regarding alleged death threats received by MP Rohana Bandara.
Premadasa said intelligence units have confirmed that the MP's life is in danger and called for adequate security to be provided.
Tensions escalated when Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne said he had not been informed by intelligence units or the police about any such threats.
However, MP Bandara later submitted a report to the Speaker regarding the matter.
At this juncture, the Speaker assured that action would be taken to enhance the MP's security.
