Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- The Coconut Cultivation Board has called on the public to provide information on coconut trees destroyed by Cyclone Ditwah by 25 December.
Dr. Sunimal Jayakody, Chairman of the Board, noted that numerous requests for this information have already been submitted through local Grama Niladharis. The data will be used to determine the compensation amount for affected coconut farmers.
Dr. Jayakody clarified that the proposed subsidy of Rs. 10,000 per destroyed coconut tree is still under consideration. A final decision on compensation will be made after reviewing all submitted information.
