Sri Lanka, Nov. 22 -- Train services on the coastal railway line have been limited to Weligama after a slow train travelling from Matara to Colombo Maradana derailed yesterday at around 2.05 p.m. between the Kamburugamuwa and Weligama stations.
Railway Department said that although staff managed to restore operations soon after the incident, the train derailed again at the same location, forcing a further suspension of services beyond Weligama.
Restoring work is currently underway, and officials said train traffic on the coastal route will operate only between Colombo and Weligama until repairs are completed and the track is declared safe.
