Sri Lanka, Feb. 21 -- The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has proposed a 13.56% increase in electricity tariffs for the second quarter of 2026, prompting the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) to open public consultations from February 25 to March 18.

The PUCSL said it will gather feedback both verbally and in writing from residents across all nine provinces before making a final decision on the proposed tariff revision.

This follows an earlier CEB proposal for the first quarter of 2026, which sought an 11.57% increase but was not approved by the commission.

The new proposal covers the period from April 1 to June 30, 2026, and the PUCSL highlighted that public input will play a key role in its evaluation.
