Colombo, Sept. 23 -- The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing an uninterrupted electricity supply to the nation, CEB Media Spokesman Engineer Dhammika Wimalaratne said today.

He said that all services related to electricity supply have been declared essential public services under Gazette No. 2458/68.

In line with this declaration, the CEB General Manager issued a circular cancelling all employee leave with immediate effect until further notice.

However, the CEB said that employees facing genuine emergencies may still apply for leave. Such requests will only be considered with the approval of a senior executive officer in the respective branch or division.
